3D TV and 3D YouTube Coming To PS3

Mick Hocking, head of 3D games at Sony Worldwide Studios, shared some valuable information on the future of 3D on the PlayStation 3.

"So you'll see 3D games in the next 12 months, you'll see Blu-ray movies in 3D, and as soon as the broadcasts start through our PlayTV services, you're going to watch 3D content [via that].

"YouTube will be supporting 3D content over the next 12 months as well - and you'll be able to watch that on the PlayStation 3. And as you start taking 3D pictures of your family or 3D camcorder movies, you can play those back on PS3, too."

So what we can pull from those two quotes are that YouTube will enable 3D videos in the near future and they will be viewable on the PlayStation 3. Also, 3D games, movies, and even television are incoming. This is the big push for 3D, let's see if it succeeds.

SOCOM 4 Announced

Zipper Interactive's SOCOM series will have a sequel. According to Sony, their "surprise sequel" announcement is related to SOCOM 4.

SOCOM 4, the latest addition to the SOCOM series, will take place in South East Asia. In this place is where "a revolutionary army has seized control of a country bordering one of the world's most vital waterways; threatening to disrupt the global economy," according to the European PlayStation Blog.

"Your mission is to step into the well-worn boots of the Ops Com, a NATO Operations Commander of an elite, five-man squad. You must venture deep into inhospitable jungles, city streets and crumbling urban ruins to engage an army of rebel fighters and discover their plans.
"Although you're vastly outnumbered, you're armed with the latest weaponry and your men are second to none – but do you possess the stealth, speed and tactical thinking to lead them to victory? Time is not on your side: you have just six days to complete your mission. To emerge victorious, you must lead from the front, maintain control of the situation and fight with sheer intensity."
The first trailer will be shown on GameTrailers TV tomorrow morning. No date has yet been confirmed.

Coming soon: Battlefield Bad Company 2

As we anxiously await the highly anticipated release of DICE's online shooter Battlefield Bad Company 2, we can look at what we can expect to see when the game is finally inserted into our consoles.

Hitting store shelves this Tuesday, Bad Company 2 is promising to deliver a multiplayer experience on par with its #1 rival Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and a single player mode with an immersive storyline.

Single-Player:

The single-player campaign features the same characters from the first game and will have 11 intense missions. Players will fight through many different settings, from cutting through jungles in South America to sliding down snow-capped mountains in Alaska.

The humor which made the first installment so popular will return with a vengeance in BF:BC2. Your allies will not hesitate to comment on the action, even harassing you or your teammates (In a friendly way of course).

Multiplayer:

The multiplayer mode is a completely different beast compared to its single-player component.

Some returning players may recognize the Rush mode taken from the original Bad Company, which is now referred to simply as Rush. The goal in Rush is to either attack the opposition defending their crates full of gold or to defend your gold-filled crates against the attacking team.

In-between deaths and respawns, players can choose the weapon kit to outfit themselves with. The difference is now players can choose from only 4 kits instead of 5. These kits are Assault, Engineer, Recon, and Medic.

Experience points gained from kills, goal completions and assist points can go toward add-ons for weapons such as grenade launchers, improved sights and even a shotgun canister.

The destruction mechanics have improved from the first installment featuring more realistic explosions. Players can now level an entire building including the framework where the original left the framework.

This game improves from its predecessor in many ways, and we have to say that DICE has done a great job of creating an all-around shooter experience. Battlefield Bad: Company hits the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on March 2nd.

Mother Attacked for Interrupting a WOW Session

Crazy things happen when sane people get in the way of a gamer and his World of Warcraft.

27 year old James Swan of Manatee Florida attacked his mother at around 10 p.m. on February 11th. The reason? She tapped him on the shoulder and tried to quiet him down so that her grandchildren could fall asleep. Seems like a gentle gesture, but he grabbed her hair and threw her down.

The woman was able to get to the kitchen to call 911, but Swan ripped the phone off the wall, banged his head into the drywall and then grabbed his mother and threw her on the floor. He then back to choke her, "saying he was going to kill her," the report states.

Swan's grandfather — and the father of the woman — tried to stop the attack, but Swan warned that he would kill him, too.

The older man retrieved a gun out of a closet. He returned to the living room, and while the gun was still in the holster, Swan grabbed him by the arm and the gun fired, according to the sheriff's office. The bullet grazed Swan behind the left ear, and struck the living room window and the wood frame of the porch.
Swan is now sitting in his cozy local jail hoping for a breakout from his WOW raiding party.

MAG Developer Tips - Direct Action

Enjoy the guide and hopefully you will learn a thing or two.

Hello, this is Jay! The Direct Action soldier is invaluable to the team whether they’re attacking or defending. If attacking, it’s going to be your job to do as much damage as possible to key defensible points — like using your rockets to take out Defensive Emplacement Turrets. If defending, it’s the Direct Action guy’s job to keep key defense objectives up and running or out of enemy hands all together. Here are some specific tips to help you be the most effective Direct Action soldier you can be.
Basic Tips
  • To be Direct Action, the most obvious step is to make sure you have a heavy machine gun in your loadout.
  • Keep some kind of demolition gear with you at all times. Either a rocket launcher or mines will do the trick.
  • Always stick with your squad. Keep the Commandos covered, and revive any fallen teammates if you have the “Resuscitation” skill equipped.
Advanced Tips
  • Be sure to have loadouts geared for attacking and defending. If attacking, you probably won’t need a repair kit, so don’t take one. If defending make sure to have weapons that will best help you fend off attackers or stop a stolen vehicle from escaping!
  • Make sure to have a good variety of weapons/gear in your loadouts. Always communicate with your squadmates to make certain you aren’t leaving anything behind that could prove valuable for your attack/defense.
  • It’s a good idea to upgrade your machine gun as often as possible. Keep the red dot and foregrip on it to increase accuracy for most of your career.
  • It’s also a good idea to get the “Increased Health” skill. Extra health will keep you alive longer. And the longer you live, the more enemies you can take out with your giant man cannon.
  • Stay behind cover and move with your squad in waves. You’re not a one-man army and are meant to focus your demo on key objectives.

MS: "Xbox Has The Most Exclusives"

In a recent interview with OXM, Aaron Greenberg has stated that no other console has more exclusives than the Xbox 360.

"There's no other platform that offers more exclusives," he said in a group interview. "Obviously there are going to be great games on the PlayStation 3, and we respect that, but our goal is to have the most blockbuster titles and the most exclusives and I think we clearly have that this year."

More: "It's going to be a big year for us. And not just for core games, but what we're going to do with Xbox Live, we're going to bring Project Natal this holiday," Greenberg promised.

Looks like we have some fire and debate between the creators of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as Microsoft and Sony are trying to pull as many sales as they can.
